Here's a few photos from the week during a recent workshop I took with Judi Betts at Cheap Joes in Boone, North Carolina. The weather was warm to start the week off; but got progressively colder, windy and downright miserable as the week went on.

The landmark Silo at the entrance to the KOA campground. Note
the beautiful changing colors of Fall. |
John and I stayed at the KOA campground just outside of Boone off of Rt 194; I traveled 4 miles to and from class every day to Cheap Joes.

yikes! chubby cheeks eats red velvet cake! I can see my pullover is too big
and John said his shirt is too small. Let them eat cake! |
The group gathered to eat at Dan'l Boone Inn Restaurant for a home-cooking style meal. There was so much food to eat and they kept bringing more of it in as the bowls were being passed and emptied. Country style ham and biscuits, salisbury steak and brown gravy, southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes with "tan" gravy, corn, green beans, cole slaw, sweet (and I mean) "sweet" tea, and several different desserts. If you left hungry, it was your fault. Here's a picture of John and I at our table with Judi Betts (far left) and Ruth Jones an artist from Atlanta, Georgia, John is in the middle of Ruth and I. Some of the workshoppers are also shown here to our backs.

Jan Greene, Anna C. Grace and Mary David Morris at the lunch table.
Lunch was prepared by Bandana's restaurant in Boone.
Today's menu was pulled pork barbeque, cole slaw and banana cream dessert. Yumm.
A different lunch was brought in every day except the
last day of class on Friday. |

Kaysi and Hannah scope out and plan their attack on the chicken coop.
I'm glad there was a fence between them and the chickens and goats. |

Judi Betts is a very good educator and I highly recommend her to anyone interested in her watercolor style.
It was well worth the long drive and I'd do it all over again if I could.
